Vanished: Last-Known Steps of Lauren Spierer Led Her Past Waffle House on 10th Street and N. College Ave, Waffle House Was Open at 4:30 am.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. The distance Lauren Spierer covered on the last night anyone saw her can be walked on a hot day without breaking a sweat, spanned with a decent golf shot and traversed -- it turns out -- without shoes.  Retrace her steps click here.

That a young woman could disappear -- seemingly off the face of the earth -- from such a small area that was trafficked by people and vehicles even in the wee hours of the morning would seem to defy every probability. Especially in a city that, on the night of June 2 and the early hours of June 3, never really went to sleep.

Yet more than three weeks after a friend said Spierer rounded the corner at 11th Street and College Avenue, the 20-year-old woman with the blinding blonde hair and the rich blue eyes is still missing, vanished not without a trace, but seemingly with very few, more from this source.

"The only place open at 4:30 am on Friday June 3rd, 2011 along the path that Lauren Spierer took up and then back down N. College Ave near her apartment at Smallwood Plaza was the Waffle House at 530 N. College Ave.  The Waffle House is open 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, there are cars in the parking lot that faces N. College Ave at all times, it has been determined that two male registered sex offenders work at this Waffle House."

At the last place Spierer was reported to have been seen -- the corner of 11th Street and College Avenue -- she would have been maybe 600 steps -- three small Bloomington-sized city blocks -- from the front entrance to her apartment building. That last short distance along College Avenue is among Bloomington's busiest streets, one that is trafficked -- lightly -- even at 4:30 a.m.

Nearby is the Waffle House Family Restaurant, open 24 hours, known as an early morning refueling station for college kids who have been out partying all night. It is an area where a white truck once considered suspicious -- but later dismissed as no worry -- passed through. It was driven by a business owner about to start his day. Truly, this was a part of town that never quite went to bed.

I am aware that the US Marshall’s Service did a hard target search of “registered” sex offenders in the Bloomington area, but sex offenders are never cured, they never change and sex offenders seek others of like backgrounds to associate with.

Let’s get real here, Lauren Spierer is very, very young looking, she is 20 years old with blond hair and blue eyes, but at 4′ 11″ tall and 98 lbs she looks like a 14 year old or even younger and fits the profile of a target for a sex offender.

Lauren Spierer was living at the SMALLWODD PLAZA APARTMENTS 455 N. COLLEGE AVE, Bloomington IN 47404, there are two troubled sex offenders working just across the street at the Waffle House 530 N COLLEGE AVE and around the croner there is one more at Domino’s Pizza 527 N WALNUT ST which delivers to the SMALLWODD PLAZA APARTMENTS.

One of the convicted sex offenders working at the Waffle House is John Chitwood he was convicted in April of 1996 for Child Molesting, he did 5 years of a 13 year sentance with 6 years suspended in the State Prison system he got out April 2001.

UPDATE..John Chitwood is a two time convicted sex offender he went back to prison in April of 2003 for Child Molesting he was released this time in Jan of 2004, see Indiana Dept. of Corrections info click here.  John Chitwood, DOB 7/15/1962, age 48, is a registered sex offender until the year 2062, he is a serious sex offender working at the Waffle House right across the street from where Lauren Spierer was living.
