ABC NEWS: A new edition of an al Qaeda magazine (Inspire) praises the Boston Marathon bombing, blessing the attack and calling the suspected bombers "two great brothers." "The act of the two great brothers, Tamerlan and Dzhokhar, is but the true image reflected by the bloody deeds of your hands, reflected by the oppressive policies of your downtrodding regimes," the magazine says. "Americans, you should understand this simple equation: as you kill, you will be killed."
The document, recently posted online in jihadi forums, devotes a significant portion of its 30-plus pages to the April 15 bombing, which killed three people -- including an 8-year-old boy -- and injured more than 260 others. One of the accused bombers, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, was killed in a shootout with police days after the bombing. His younger brother and alleged co-conspirator, Dzhokhar, was injured and taken into custody.
"The Blessed Boston Bombings (BBB) have been an absolute success on all levels and domains," the magazine says. "By tracking the course Tamerland and Dzhokhar -- may Allah reward them -- ran along April 15 until they crossed their own finish line... we can confidently say that the real worthy winners of the Boston Marathon were the Tsarnaev mujahideen Brothers."
The magazine also made an apparent reference to its possible link to the attacks, saying that "lone-Jihad is impossible to counter and stop, except when basic cooking ingredients and building material become illegal!" Inspire magazine has historically been produced by al Qaeda's affiliate in Yemen, al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP). It's original editor, American Samir Khan (the guy who tried to get me killed), was killed in the same September 2011 drone strike that killed American al Qaeda cleric Anwar al-Awlaki.
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev told investigators they followed the script from Inspire magazine, which Samir Khan published in Yemen along with his mentor, the cleric Anwar al-Awlaki, who was killed in the same drone strike on Sept. 30, 2011. Mr. Awlaki’s incendiary sermons and Mr. Khan’s training articles survived them on the Web, where the brothers found them. Just a month before the Boston attack, the Qaeda branch in Yemen posted on the Web the “Lone Mujahid Pocketbook,” a compilation of all the do-it-yourself articles with jaunty English text, high-quality graphics and teen-friendly shorthand. “R U dreamin’ of wagin’ jihadi attacks against kuffar?” the 64-page manual asks, using a pejorative term for unbeliever. “Have u been lookin’ 4 a way to join the mujahideen in frontlines, but you haven’t found any? Well, there’s no need to travel abroad, because the frontline has come to you.”
Samir Khan, a Saudi-born man of Pakistani heritage who was a U.S. citizen, lived on Long Island before moving to Charlotte, N.C., where he began writing a pro-Al Qaeda blog from his parents’ home. In 2009, he moved to Yemen to join the terror network in the Arabian Peninsula; Posted on Samir Khan’s website May 1st, 2009; The blog is back!
