The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office is advising the public that Christopher Hill, DOB 09/06/66, has registered as a Sexual Offender living in Sarasota County. Information from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) shows Hill was convicted in 1997 in Sarasota County of Lewd or Lascivious Battery of a female between 12-16 and sentenced to three years and six months in Florida State Prison. He has multiple other arrests including Fraud, Grand Theft, drug charges and Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. Hill just moved back to Florida from Georgia and registered as a transient living in the 4000 block of Bee Ridge Road in Sarasota. The registration of a "location" and not a physical address is allowable under Florida law for homeless or transient persons. see http://www.sarasotasheriff.org/news/news-releases/item/sex-offender-registration-23.html

However, effective July 1, 2014, a transient offender or predator must register their address with the sheriff's office every 30 days. This information is also posted on the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office web site and the agency Facebook page to more publicly notify citizens of sex offenders and predators who register a Sarasota County address for the first time, either when moving into the county or following release from prison. Citizens should still sign up to receive notifications from FDLE of sex offender and predator registrations and address changes at their web site https://www.floridaoffenderalert.com.
